About the festival
The 25th Gyeongsan Gatbawi Wish Fulfillment Festival embodies the long-standing tradition of prayer and wish fulfillment associated with the treasure 'Gyeongsan Palgong-san Gwanbong Stone Buddha (Gatbawi)'. Under the slogan "Millennium Wish Sanctuary, 'Gyeongsan Gatbawi' Renaissance", it is an interactive cultural festival that blends traditional culture with modern performances, taking place from September 19 to 20 at Gyeongsan Saenghwalcheyuk Park Onmaru Plaza (formerly Eogwima Hall). On September 19, the festival will kick off with a lively event featuring rock band performances, Gaksoli shows, Wonhyo Mu-ae dance, Dharma talks, sound meditation, and vocal offerings. The opening ceremony will include a performance of the harmony wish bibimbap offering, along with a healing concert featuring traditional musician Nam Sang-il, vocal ensemble Sorinamu, and ballad singers Radi and Jeong-in, delivering a diverse array of sounds. On September 20, the Gyeongsan City Choir and Gyeongsan City Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with baritone Kim Dong-kyu and soprano Ganghye-jeong to present a dignified wish concert. Additionally, the Gatbawi Wish Trail will host a temple run, and Seonbon Temple will offer a temple stay program as a pre-registration activity, extending the festival's significance to Gatbawi. Furthermore, at the main venue, Gyeongsan Saenghwalcheyuk Park Onmaru Plaza, various programs will be conducted where citizens and tourists can participate and heal, including a demonstration of temple food by Monk Hong Seung and the hanging of wish papers. There will also be booths selling local specialties, including 'Wachon Plums', and a food market, making it a representative festival of Gyeongsan that wishes for the fulfillment of everyone's wishes amidst abundant food and entertainment.
