About the festival

The Heo Jun Festival is held in the Gangseo-gu district of Seoul, where Heo Jun was born and wrote the Donguibogam, to commemorate Heo Jun's spirit of caring for the people and the Donguibogam, the greatest medical book in the East. The festival takes place every year in the second week of October. It first started in 1999 around the Heo Gabawi area, where the Donguibogam was written. In 2023, the festival introduced a new concept reflecting its identity and various programs to promote Heo Jun and Gangseo to a wider audience, moving the venue to the Seoul Botanical Garden to ensure everyone can safely enjoy the festival. As Gangseo-gu's representative medical and health cultural festival, the Heo Jun Festival offers various cultural programs, including a medical health experience center in collaboration with medical institutions, special exhibitions on Heo Jun and the Donguibogam, Heo Jun Concert, Heo Jun Music Festival, Heo Jun Parade, and Heo Jun Kids' Contest.
