About the festival
The Danyang Ondal Cultural Festival is a representative cultural festival held every October in Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, based on the beautiful legend of Ondaljang-gun, a hero of Goguryeo, and Princess Pyeonggang. At the festival site, various programs unfold, including the grand Ondaljang-gun departure ceremony and victory parade, as well as tours of Ondal Fortress where visitors can experience historical sites firsthand, and the Goguryeo Jeojatgeo-ri showcasing the lifestyle of that time. Additionally, there are rich offerings such as Goguryeo costume experiences, various experiential programs based on the Goguryeo era, and traditional folk games for the whole family to enjoy. Visitors encounter the spirit of Goguryeo through their senses in the Ondal tourist area, vividly experiencing a scene from history.
