About the festival

The Muan Lotus Festival is a representative summer festival of Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City, and it is the largest single lotus festival in the country. It started in 1997 and is held every summer in the area of Hoesan Baekryeonji in Bokryong-ri, Ilro-eup. Visitors can see the white lotus blooming upright among the green lotus leaves that fill the largest area in the East, covering 100,000 pyeong, revealing its purity. The festival captures the romance of summer with various events in the midst of nature. Additionally, there are experience programs, cultural performances, and exhibitions themed around lotus flowers, making it a festival enjoyable for people of all ages. Visitors can take photos while appreciating the beautiful scenery filled with blooming lotus flowers and spend healing time in nature. In particular, the spectacle of Hoesan Baekryeonji captivates many tourists and provides a valuable opportunity to experience the local culture and ecology.
