About the festival
The 25th Oeam Village Straw and Reed Cultural Festival is a folk culture festival set against the backdrop of Oeam Village, which has a 600-year tradition, where visitors can directly experience and enjoy straw and reed crafts and traditional lifestyle culture. It will be held from October 16 to 18, 2026, in Oeam Village and the Jeojatgeo-ri area, featuring various programs such as a national straw craft competition, straw craft exhibitions and experiences, thatching, straw weaving contests, scarecrow making, a straw playground and Minsoknolima-Hall, companion stone making, and Hanok and stone wall path tours. Attendees can also experience traditional culture through the National Nongak Festival, traditional cultural performances, reenactments of traditional weddings, funerals, and rituals, as well as the past experience 'Onyangbyeol-si' and 'Samil Yuga' procession. Additionally, there will be a Gihoekjeon-si exhibition at Geonjae Historic House, experiences in Hanbok, Hanji, and straw crafts, as well as rice cake pounding and Gangjeong making. Local food, a flea market, and a Meokgeorijangteo will also be available, along with a celebratory performance at the opening ceremony and a drone light show.
