About the festival
The 22nd Poeun Cultural Festival commemorates the life and spirit of Master Jeong Mong-ju and is a historical and cultural festival that shares traditional culture with citizens. In 2026, it will be held from October 10 to 11 at the site of Master Jeong Mong-ju's tomb in Mohyeon-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, to mark the 620th anniversary of his passing, themed 'The Breath of Poeun – Connecting 620'. Through the procession and memorial rites, we reflect on the footsteps of Master Poeun, and it will be a place to experience traditional arts through ceremonies, congratulatory performances, the Yongin Folk Arts Festival, and performances by winners of the National Youth Korean Traditional Music Competition. The festival includes a children's examination experience 'Challenge! Little Top Scholar', Poeun School, traditional cultural experiences, and citizen participation programs, allowing families to learn and enjoy history together. Various food trucks and local delicacies, as well as spaces for selling agricultural specialties, will also be operated to share local culture. The RE-BORN mission, which follows the Cheoinseong Cultural Festival in September, involves carrying out the mission of the 'Cheoin Guardians' and connects the historical stories of the two festivals, providing a participatory program to experience the history and culture of Yongin.
