About the festival

The Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival, which started in 1997 as the World Street Theater Festival, is the first street theater festival in Korea held every September featuring outdoor performances from both domestic and international artists.·Focusing on street performances, it is held annually and serves as a platform for artists to experiment, providing a rich array of performances including international shows, domestic performances, and planned events during the festival period, allowing ordinary citizens to enjoy diverse cultures without burden. With over 100,000 visitors each year, the Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival has developed into a representative festival of Asia and is a citizen-led arts festival created together with the community, changing its name to GPAF from 2023 to emphasize its focus on plaza-centered performing arts with the citizens.(GPAF)will change its festival name to emphasize its focus on plaza-centered performing arts with the citizens.
