About the festival
The Pohang Marine Corps Cultural Festival is a representative military cultural festival of South Korea that shares the history and spirit of the Marine Corps with citizens and tourists in Pohang, the cradle of the Marine Corps and home to the 1st Marine Division. This festival is also a culmination of the values of coexistence that the Marine Corps and the local community have built together over many years, reflecting the strong spirit of the 'Ghost-catching Marines' and the meaning of national defense and veterans' honor, transforming it into cultural content that anyone can enjoy. The festival is held annually in the Pohang area and features unique programs such as exhibitions of military equipment, performances by military bands and honor guards, and military parades, which are not easily accessible on ordinary days. It offers a variety of programs that encompass experiences with the Marine Corps, performances involving comrades, families, and citizen participation, as well as food markets. Through this, a space for harmony is created where active-duty and reserve Marines, their families, citizens, and tourists come together. Additionally, it is a festival that significantly contributes to revitalizing the local economy and enhancing the city's brand value by utilizing Pohang's unique resources related to the Marine Corps as tourism resources.
