About the festival

The Independence Hall of Korea Maple Tree Forest Path is one of Cheonan’s signature autumn attractions. This walking trail stretches for about 3.2 km, with thousands of maple trees forming a tunnel overhead. Held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from October 16 to November 15, the Independence Hall of Korea Maple Tree Forest Path Healing Festival combines the natural scenery and history of the area around the Independence Hall of Korea in autumn. During the festival, walking routes centered on the red maple-lined path are open for visitors to enjoy nature, alongside a variety of cultural events. Nighttime guided tours are offered at the Former Japanese Government-General Building Demolition Materials Exhibition Park, sharing historical lessons and the spirit of independence. Special nighttime landscape lighting commemorates the 150th anniversary of Baekbeom Kim Gu’s birth. A media facade featuring cutting-edge media art is displayed against the backdrop of the Tower of the Nation, offering visitors a distinctive nighttime attraction. The festival provides a cultural space where daytime forest-path relaxation meets nighttime lighting, media art, and historical interpretation. By bringing together relaxation in nature and a historically symbolic setting, it is a multifaceted healing festival for all generations to enjoy.
