About the festival
Hongcheon County in Gangwon Province boasts the largest area among all cities and counties in the country, surrounded by lush forests that cover 85% of the entire territory, making it a natural treasure trove. Particularly, the unique geographical feature of increasing elevation towards the east provides optimal conditions for the growth of pristine alpine wild vegetables. This vibrant life force shaped by the deep mountains has been gathered in one place. This year in Hongcheon, a special festival is being held where alpine wild vegetables, imbued with the essence of the clean forest, meet mountain ginseng, a symbol of vitality enhancement. At the festival site, visitors can enjoy a variety of alpine wild vegetables cultivated in Hongcheon's highland areas, from fragrant and fresh Myungna (wild chive) to chamdu-reup (wild vegetable shoots) and Eomnamu (wild tree shoots). Additionally, precious mountain ginseng can help restore health during the changing seasons. A special restaurant will be operating where freshly purchased alpine wild vegetables and mountain ginseng can be grilled on the spot with Hongcheon's premium pork, 'Hongcheon Handon'. From May 1 to 3, at the Urban Forest Park Tori Forest, you can enjoy the healthiest moments that are remembered through sight and taste.
