About the festival

The World Heritage Joseon Royal Tomb Festival is a special cultural event designed to convey the history and dignity of the UNESCO World Heritage Joseon Royal Tombs, allowing visitors to experience the tombs up close. Through a variety of programs that encompass both tradition and modernity, including performances, tours, experiences, and exhibitions, participants can encounter the living history and culture preserved by the Joseon Royal Tombs. Initiated in 2020, the 2026 World Heritage Joseon Royal Tomb Festival marks its 7th edition this year, starting with the opening ceremony on October 16 (Friday) and continuing until October 25 (Sunday). This year, new programs have been developed based on the unique stories and historical values of each royal tomb. Visitors will enjoy a special time wandering through various locations following the stories of the tombs and experiencing diverse content, engaging all five senses with the historical value and beauty of the Joseon Royal Tombs.
