About the festival

The Namsan Beacon Ceremony and other traditional cultural events are organized by the city of Seoul to recreate communication methods from the Joseon Dynasty, providing citizens and domestic and international tourists with opportunities to experience our unique traditional culture. The Namsan Beacon Tower was an important communication method that gathered signals from beacon towers across the country during the Joseon Dynasty to inform the capital of situations. Visitors can watch the Namsan Beacon Ceremony at the Namsan Beacon Tower and listen to historical explanations. Additionally, the Bosingak Citizen's Regular Bell-Ringing Ceremony, which takes place daily at noon, is an interactive event for citizens and tourists. Performances of Samulnori and demonstrations of traditional martial arts can be enjoyed at the Namsan Tower Octagonal Pavilion Square. Other experiential programs such as daily experience of the beacon keeper and daily experience of the beacon signal are also available.
