About the festival
The DMZ OPEN Festival is a representative complex cultural event in Gyeonggi Province designed to allow experiences of the peace, ecology, and historical values of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) through various artistic and academic methods. It aims to move beyond viewing the DMZ merely as a space of division and military tension, reinterpreting the long-preserved ecological environment, historical significance, and the potential for peace and coexistence in today's cultural language. Gyeonggi Province has expanded the concept of 'OPEN' to signify the transformation of the 'closed DMZ' into an open space for all, and the festival operates as a complex cultural event showcasing programs across various genres over an extended period.
