About the festival
Ulsan Night Cultural Heritage Festival highlights the value of Ulsan's national heritage, centered around the relationship between two leaders who led civil and military affairs in a single town during the Joseon Dynasty. Using Ulsan Dong-Hall and the inner hall to symbolize civil affairs and Gyeongsangjwadobyeongyeong-Fortress to symbolize military affairs, it reinterprets the relationship and conflicts between the two leaders as recorded in the Sejongsilrok and Myeongjongsilrok from a contemporary perspective. The story of these two figures, who possess different roles and values, unfolds in a 'thesis-antithesis-synthesis' flow. Through a narrative that starts from opposition and conflict and leads to understanding and harmony, it conveys the meaning of history that achieved coexistence beyond conflict to the audience. This story is presented in various forms such as performances, exhibitions, experiences, explanations, and night scenery, allowing everyone to easily and interestingly encounter Ulsan's history and culture. In particular, it weaves the historical significance of Ulsan Dong-Hall and the inner hall with Gyeongsangjwadobyeongyeong-Fortress into a single narrative, clearly revealing the unique values of each national heritage and the regional identity that only Ulsan possesses, making it a representative night festival of Ulsan's national heritage.
