About the festival

The Diaspora Film Festival is held in Incheon Metropolitan City and was conceived based on the concept of diaspora, which refers to the lives of Jews who have spread across the world while preserving their culture. Marking the departure of Korea's first immigrant ship from Incheon Port to Hawaii in 1902, Incheon has become a city that represents Korean immigration history and holds the stories of migration. The Diaspora Film Festival reflects on this historical significance, aims to stand in solidarity with the marginalized against discrimination and prejudice, and seeks to promote the values of diversity and tolerance through film. The festival highlights various issues related to diaspora and provides a platform for in-depth exploration of migration issues in our society, presenting a foundation for coexistence and harmony to the audience. Since its inception in 2013, the Diaspora Film Festival has steadily grown and is now celebrating its 14th edition in the welcoming city of Incheon, establishing itself as a representative film festival of the city.
