About the festival

Maduhee is a folk game based on 'Hakseongji', one of the Ulsan town records during the reign of King Yeongjo of Joseon. It establishes traditionality and identity through story connections and combines entertainment and experiential summer content utilizing the Taehwa River with the Chimaek Festival, a nighttime escape content, to evolve into a resident-led tourism festival. As the first summer festival held nationwide, it provides a venue for citizen unity through the Maduhee Tug-of-War, in which all Ulsan citizens participate. The 2026 Taehwa River Maduhee Festival, held in the original downtown of Jung-gu, Ulsan, features the 'Maduhee' Grand Tug-of-War, water tug-of-war at the Taehwa River, Chimaek Festival, EDM party with DJs, wrestling competitions, and various experiences, making the summer hot.
