About the festival
Yongin Cultural Center commemorates the historical significance of the victory at Cheoin Fortress, where Kim Yun-hu and the residents of Cheoin-bugok fought together against the Mongol army during the second invasion of Mongolia in 1232. To inherit the spirit of national defense and community of their ancestors, the Cheoin Fortress Cultural Festival is held annually. This year marks the 35th Cheoin Fortress Cultural Festival, which will be held under the slogan 'The Roar of Cheoin, Awakening Today.' The festival aims to present the courage and community spirit of the ancestors in a way that citizens can easily and familiarly understand, featuring performances, exhibitions, and experiences in an interactive historical and cultural festival. The festival will include various programs that the whole family can enjoy, such as a musical themed around the Battle of Cheoin Fortress, horseback martial arts performances, horseback riding experiences, Goryeo costume experiences, pottery and craft experiences, and historical explanations of Cheoin Fortress. A variety of cultural and artistic performances, night shows, and fireworks will take place, along with food trucks and various food spaces to enhance the joy of the festival. Additionally, through the 'RE-BORN Mission' linking the Cheoin Fortress Cultural Festival in September and the Poeun Cultural Festival in October, the two festivals can be enjoyed as one historical story. It is a meaningful autumn festival where one can newly encounter the history and culture of Yongin, following the courage of Cheoin and the spirit of Poeun.
