The Gimje Resource Circulation Saerobomi Festival is held to commemorate Resource Circulation Day and promote proper waste sorting and the importance of resource circulation. Its main goals are to raise awareness of recycling and reusing waste generated in everyday life and to share the need for and value of resource circulation. “Saerobomi” means “seeing discarded waste as a new resource.” The name reflects the idea that waste should be viewed not simply as something to throw away, but as a resource that can be recycled and reused, and that attention should be paid to new ways of making use of discarded materials. The festival aims to share the value of resource circulation and promote a culture of proper waste sorting and recycling in everyday life. The 4th Gimje Resource Circulation Saerobomi Festival is an event focused on resource circulation and environmental protection. It addresses environmental issues closely connected to everyday life, including proper waste sorting, recycling, and reusing resources, and aims to explain the need for resource circulation and practical ways to put it into action. In particular, it conveys the festival’s significance through the core principles of resource circulation: changing perceptions to see waste as a resource and making sustained use of resources. The festival seeks to highlight the importance of resource circulation through efficient resource use, waste reduction, and improved awareness of recycling, while encouraging interest in environmental protection activities that can be practiced in everyday life. It also aims to promote a culture of resource circulation that moves beyond using resources once and discarding them, instead making continued use of their value through reuse and recycling.
