About the festival
The Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo Festival is an event that has been held every autumn since its first occurrence in 2023, organized by Hapcheon-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do to promote the local Hanwoo brand, Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo. This brand has been jointly operated by Hapcheon-gun and the Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative since it was registered as a brand with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in 1999. The cattle are fed a special feed containing yellow soil for over 16 months, resulting in tender meat quality and flavor that consumers prefer. The festival is hosted and organized by the Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative, with sponsorship from Hapcheon-gun, and it has been characterized by a steady increase in visitors and sales with each passing year. The first event in 2023 attracted about 30,000 visitors, while the third event in 2025 saw approximately 79,000 visitors over three days, generating sales of 1.2 billion won, establishing itself as a representative brand event for Hapcheon. The fourth festival, taking place in this context, is expected to be an event with an expanded scale and program based on the accumulated operational experience from previous years.
