About the festival

The 2026 Jeonju Makgeolli Festival, held in Jeonju, a UNESCO Creative City, celebrates Jeonju’s distinctive makgeolli and food culture. It is a signature local festival where residents and visitors come together to share Jeonju’s flavors and warm hospitality. Alongside tastings and sales of makgeolli produced in Jeonju, the Samcheon-dong Makgeolli Alley Merchants’ Association and local restaurants present a variety of dishes that pair well with makgeolli, as well as Jeonju’s distinctive local foods. The festival also offers a range of cultural performances, including Gijeopnori, special guest performances, and a retro DJ party, along with hands-on events open to everyone, such as a community karaoke booth and a makgeolli challenge. In particular, the festival brings together local breweries, restaurants, and neighborhood businesses to showcase the excellence of Jeonju makgeolli and invigorate the local economy. Under the slogan “Beneath the autumn moonlight, savor Jeonju makgeolli!”, Jeonju’s flavors and charm come together with lively performances and participatory programs to create special autumn-night memories for residents and visitors alike.
