About the festival
The Jeonrabyeongyeong Fortress Festival is a historical and cultural festival held at Jeonrabyeongyeong Fortress located in Gangjin-gun, Jeonnamgwangjutonghapteukbyeol-si. It is based on the historical background of Byeongyeong Fortress, which was a military center overseeing Jeolla Province and Jeju Island during the Joseon Dynasty. The festival utilizes the actual walls and ruins of Jeonrabyeongyeong Fortress, which was used as a military facility for about 500 years, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the military during the Joseon Dynasty more vividly. During the festival period, various programs such as traditional clothing experiences, soldier training reenactments, and traditional performances are organized, enabling visitors to naturally experience the lifestyle and culture of that time. Additionally, through events held along the fortress walls and various experiential activities, it is characterized as an experiential festival where visitors can actively participate and enjoy rather than just observe.
