About the festival

Thirty years ago, several young people gathered in the center of winter in South Korea, 'Daegwallyeong', to create the Snow Flower Festival. The 'Daegwallyeong Snow Flower Festival', which started in 1993, is the first winter festival in the country and boasts a history of over 30 years. It is held annually with the goal of overcoming the winter off-season, revitalizing the local economy, and promoting community harmony, and has developed into a festival that attracts many tourists. The theme of the Daegwallyeong Snow Flower Festival has changed to 'The Growth of the National Representative of Winter Dreamers'. Visitors can vividly experience the process of Pyeongchang's mascot 'Nundongi', who dreamed of becoming a sports national representative after watching the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, transform into the national representative for the 2026 Milan Olympics through giant snow and ice sculptures. A dynamic winter sports experience zone following Nundongi's growth journey is prepared.
