About the festival
The Pohang Chimaek Festival is a summer festival held at Yeongildae Haesangnu Pavilion, a representative tourist resource of Pohang. This festival is promoted with the aim of revitalizing the local economy and attracting tourists, and it operates as a participatory cultural festival that people of all ages can join. The festival will take place over two days from August 21 to 22, 2026, featuring a ceremony, invited performances, citizen participation performances, an EDM party, a singing competition, and various experiential programs. The event area will include zones for chicken and beer sales, water experiences, art experiences, and events, providing stay-type tourism content that links food, performances, experiences, and marine tourism. Additionally, participatory programs such as Chimaek Star K, Chimaek King selection contest, and receipt lucky draw will be operated to expand on-site participation. The festival aims to promote nighttime tourism at Yeongildae through nighttime performances and EDM programs, and to enhance Pohang's summer tourism content, thereby increasing the city's tourism competitiveness and brand value. Through this, it aims to develop into a representative summer tourism festival of Pohang and contribute to the revitalization of the local commercial area and tourism industry.
