About the festival
The 2026 Wonju Night of National Heritage will feature the slogan 'Observing the History of Wonju: Gwanchal Temple' and present a variety of programs themed around the beautiful night views of national heritage and '8 Nights'. The event will take place over three days from September 4 (Friday) to September 6 (Sunday), 2026, centered around the national heritage sites in the area of Gangwon Provincial Office, Wondong Cathedral, and Joseon Industrial Bank. This year, the focus will be on the history and figures of Wonju, with three main themes centered on the righteous army leader Mingeung Lake, Gwanchal Temple's Songgang Jeongcheol, and Queen Inyeol, introducing the historical significance and stories of each figure through various programs. This will provide citizens and visitors with a rich array of sights and experiences to engage with the history and culture of Wonju more closely.
