About the festival

The Semiwon Lotus Culture Festival is a representative autumn garden culture festival held at Semiwon located in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Semiwon is a garden of water and flowers surrounded on three sides by Paldang Lake, and it is the first local garden in Gyeonggi-do that features traditional Eastern garden styles and various aquatic plants. The Lotus Culture Festival is an event centered around the lotus, which is the representative aquatic plant of Semiwon, and it offers unique garden attractions during the autumn season. It showcases a diverse garden landscape featuring various lotuses and aquatic plants, including the Victoria lotus, known as the 'queen of flowers', exotic Australian lotuses, and colorful tropical lotuses. Visitors can appreciate the beauty of the lotuses blooming on the water's surface while enjoying a leisurely break in the city. In particular, it is expected to present richer garden culture content as the venue for the 2026 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo. The Semiwon area is a complex cultural space that embodies the history of Baeda-ri, associated with the late Joseon scholar Jeong Yak-yong, and it is equipped with various facilities such as the Yeonkkot Museum, Jangdokdae Fountain, Sehan Pavilion, and Baeda-ri, serving as a year-round garden tourism destination that harmonizes nature, ecology, and cultural arts.
