About the festival
The Seo-gu Book Festival is a signature reading festival in Seo-gu, Daejeon, where local residents share the joy of books and reading. Held every autumn, it offers a diverse range of reading-culture programs for the whole family, creating a place for communication that connects books and people, culture and the local community. Alongside a rich lineup of stage programs, including author talks, performances, and concerts, the festival presents exhibitions that bring books and art together, such as book curation displays and original picture-book artwork. It also offers special events such as recycling discarded books and an outdoor library, as well as a variety of reading experiences, including storytelling and reading-related crafts. Through partnerships with local universities, bookstores, and arts organizations, the festival aims to be an event created together with the community. It also expands opportunities to enjoy reading and experience cultural arts by adding participatory programs for the whole family, such as stamp tours. The Seo-gu Book Festival is a signature reading-culture festival that uses books to foster communication and understanding across generations, spread reading culture throughout the region, and enhance the cultural value of libraries.
