About the festival

The 40th Icheon Ceramic Festival is a ceramic culture event held in Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, specifically in the Icheon Ceramic Art Village and the Sagimakgol area. Icheon has historically been a region that has maintained a ceramic culture that encompasses both tradition and modernity, based on high-quality clay and excellent kiln technology. This year's festival, marking its 40th anniversary, is designed to reflect on the history and value of the Icheon Ceramic Festival while also looking towards the future direction of ceramic culture. During the festival, potters and visitors will come together to share the artistic significance of ceramics, and participants can directly experience the ceramic production process through various hands-on programs such as pottery wheel experiences and writing wishes on large ceramics. Additionally, a wide range of exhibitions and sales will take place, showcasing traditional ceramics to modern design works, and cultural and artistic exchanges will be expanded through related programs such as academic seminars, ceramic competitions, and performances. The active participation of local potters and residents will contribute to revitalizing the local economy and widely promoting the excellence of Icheon ceramic culture both domestically and internationally.
