About the festival
The 31st Suncheon Nakan-eupseong Folk Culture Festival will be held at Suncheon Nakan-eupseong, which has a history and tradition of over 600 years, from October 24 to 25, 2026, under the theme 'Nakan, Building Joy and Connecting Generations.' Everyone, young and old, can enjoy the beauty and excitement of traditional culture at Nakan-eupseong, where the fortress, government office, and Choga Village from the Joseon Dynasty harmoniously coexist. The festival will feature a procession led by the Nakan County Governor, a changing of the guard ceremony, and a reenactment of the Gimajang-gun's ceremonial procession, showcasing the appearance of a Joseon Dynasty town fortress. The festival will be rich with activities such as the Baekjung-nori, fortress building, tightrope walking, traditional martial arts, Kim Bingil Changgeuk, Panso-ri, and Gayageum Byeongchang performances, along with the 'Nakan Music Festa' that offers a lively stage connecting generations with popular songs. Tug of war and wrestling·Various participatory events such as arm wrestling, Yutnori, traditional license plate making, straw craft, and archery will also be available. Visitors can experience the joy of a special festival that connects the past and present along with local delicacies.
