About the festival

Gangneung Dano Festival is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and a representative traditional festival of South Korea that has continued for a thousand years, attracting over 500,000 tourists each year. The 2026 Gangneung Dano Festival will be held from June 15 to June 22 for eight days in the Gangneung area, themed 'Pulini, Dano Day'. Gangneung Dano Festival is a comprehensive festival that includes rituals, a shamanistic performance where gods and humans communicate, and the largest traditional market in the country, featuring a total of 71 diverse programs across 13 fields, including national designated cultural heritage events, citizen participation programs, and folk games. In particular, this year, under the theme of 'Pulim', the festival emphasizes the essential value of letting go of daily worries and misfortunes, allowing hearts and relationships to naturally unfold, and plans to widely promote the community spirit and healing significance of the Gangneung Dano Festival both domestically and internationally.
