About the festival
*The content of the festival is based on the previous year (2025) and the content for the 2026 festival is currently being updated.* Mokpo opened its port in 1897 and has served as a center for trade and logistics, enjoying the glory of being one of the top three ports and six major cities in the country, leading the revival of the local economy. Today, it is a central city behind the southwestern coast. The Mokpo Port Festival uniquely reenacts the traditional wave market of Mokpo Port, filled with the scent of the harbor, in Samhakdo, where legends coexist, widely promoting its historical value. Additionally, it is an autumn festival filled with the romance of Mokpo Port, featuring seasonal seafood auctions, where auctioned seafood is grilled and cooked on the spot.
