About the festival
The Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival is a representative autumn festival of Changwon that has been held since 2000 to promote the excellence of Masan chrysanthemums and encourage chrysanthemum consumption. Masan is the region where six farms in Hoewon-dong first started commercial cultivation of chrysanthemums in Korea in 1961 and where the first chrysanthemums were exported to Japan in 1972. The festival showcases the history of the Masan chrysanthemum industry, which has grown based on a mild climate and cultivation techniques, along with various chrysanthemum artworks. The 26th Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival will be held at 3.15 Haeyangnuri Park, Happosubyeon Park, and the Haeyangsindo-si area. Various events will take place, including a multimedia fireworks show, marine flower dropping play, and chrysanthemum song contest, centered around the chrysanthemum exhibition. In addition to the Indie Music Festival and local artists' cultural performances, there will be a chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition, chrysanthemum dance cheerleading, and experience programs, allowing visitors to enjoy chrysanthemum artworks, performances, and food against the backdrop of the sea.
