About the festival
The Gangneung Coffee Festival grew from everyday memories of coffee vending machines at Anmok Beach and the café and roasting culture cultivated by coffee artisans. Launched in 2009, it has grown into a gathering that connects Gangneung’s natural environment, everyday culture, and local businesses while expressing the city’s distinctive identity. Residents, merchants, coffee industry professionals, and visitors come together to enjoy coffee and share stories of Gangneung through the humanities, art, and local content. A cup of coffee once enjoyed while gazing at the sea has expanded into a culture shared by the city. The festival is a living local cultural asset that conveys the region’s history, people’s tastes, and the community’s pride.
