About the festival
The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is Suwon's representative comprehensive cultural and arts festival, reinterpreting King Jeongjo's eight-day journey to Hwaseong in 1795 with a modern touch. Historical moments recorded in the "Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe" are brought to life through performances, parades, experiences, and citizen participation programs, held at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Suwon Hwaseong and Hwaseong Haenggung. The main program, 'King Jeongjo's Royal Procession,' is the largest royal parade in the country, enjoyed by citizens and tourists alike, showcasing the festival's grand charm. During the day, visitors can enjoy traditional cultural experiences and participatory programs, while at night, they can experience high-quality performances set against the beautiful scenery of Suwon Hwaseong, offering a special festival experience to both domestic and international tourists.
