About the festival

The 'Royal Culture Festival' is held every spring·The five grand palaces of Seoul in autumn(Gyeongbok Palace·Changdeok Palace·Deoksu Palace·Changgyeong Palace·Gyeonghui Palace)It is the largest national heritage festival in the country held at Jongmyo Shrine. Performances take place on the palace stage.·Exhibition·Experience·Presenting diverse programs of Korean traditional culture such as ritual reenactments. The Royal Culture Festival, hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration and organized by the Cultural Heritage Promotion Agency, marks its 12th year this year with the theme 'Palace, Awakening Art', expanding the palace beyond a space for viewing national heritage to a cultural and artistic stage where K-Culture can be experienced. In the spring festival of 2026, a total of over 725,000 visitors are expected, setting a record for the highest number of attendees ever. This festival will utilize the seasonal characteristics of the autumn palace, allowing visitors to focus on the space and history of the palace during the day.·Tourism(Tour)·Experience program, performances set against the palace halls and natural scenery at night·Expanding the experience program to offer a differentiated experience from the spring festival. The day before the festival opening on October 6(Fire)At 5 PM, a special performance celebrating the start of the Autumn Festival will be held at Heungrye Gate Square in Gyeongbok Palace as part of KBS2's 'Immortal Songs - 2026 Royal Culture Festival Special'. Under the theme 'Palace, Awakening Art', a stage will be presented where all generations can enjoy everything from traditional Korean music to K-pop. Admission is free, and applications for attendance can be made on the official KBS 'Immortal Songs' website.
