About the festival
An 8-day celebration of happiness with the people, approaching as a festival for citizens. The most grand festival in Joseon history, a journey shared by the people and the benevolent king! In 2026, we will reflect on King Jeongjo's intentions as depicted in the 'Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Gye' along the route of his royal procession. In 1795, King Jeongjo traveled to Suwon Hwaseong to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Queen Heongyeong. His 8-day journey was not just a royal movement but a historical event sharing joyful memories with the people. King Jeongjo's benevolent spirit was widely distributed in the 'Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Gye'. In 2026, the spirit of King Jeongjo will be inherited, and the happy memories of the people will be recreated as the happy memories of citizens. The joint reenactment of King Jeongjo's royal procession is a festival where Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City, and Hwaseong City collaborate to splendidly recreate the original form of the 'Eulmyo Year Hwaseong Wonhaeng' in modern times.
