About the festival

At Dongmangbong in Sungin-dong, Jongno-gu, lies the tomb of King Danjong, the 6th king of Joseon, and the poignant story of Queen Jeongsun. At just eighteen years old, she faced separation and spent over sixty years gazing at the eastern sky, longing for her beloved. Her traces remain here. In the spring of 2026, we aim to transform that deep 'purple longing' into 'hope and comfort.' To reflect on the warm hearts of the neighboring people who silently supported the lonely queen, we will hold the Jeongsun Queen Cultural Festival.
