About the festival
An eco-friendly ecological stream, Danghyeoncheon, featuring lanterns that combine mass appeal and artistic value(Lantern)·A nighttime public art festival unique to Nowon-gu, featuring light sculptures and planning and operating programs in which residents participate directly, such as creating and interpreting artworks. The festival began in 2014 as the “Nowon Lantern Festival” and was held in spring through 2019. In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it adopted the new name “Nowon Moonlight Walk” and moved to autumn, with the goal of “healing through art.” It continues to this day, with artistic lanterns as its main attraction.(Lantern)·In addition to exhibitions of light sculpture works, there are programs such as “Resident-Participatory Community Art,” in which artists are paired with local residents to create and exhibit works; “Moonlight Docents,” in which residents explain the works to visitors; and “Weekend Cultural Arts Performances,” featuring local artists.
