About the festival
The festival is a cultural performance event held annually to commemorate the musical achievements of Nankye Park Yeon, focusing on traditional Korean music, which is a cultural heritage and traditional art of Yeongdong-gun. The 57th Yeongdong Nankye Gugak Festival aims to promote Korean traditional music, a heritage of South Korea, worldwide, inheriting the achievements of the 2025 Yeongdong World Gugak Expo and contributing to the revival of the second Korean Wave. Additionally, as the only Gugak festival in South Korea, it strives to modernize traditional cultural arts through various Gugak performances and experiential programs, working to utilize the festival as a regional tourism resource with programs tailored to local characteristics. It provides a space for cultural enhancement and community harmony through voluntary participation of local residents.
