Goesan Kimchi-Making Festival

About the festival

The 2026 Goesan Kimchi-Making Festival is a four-day celebration of kimchi-making culture, held from November 5 to 8, 2026, at the Organic Expo Plaza and around Goesan Sports Complex in Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. Participants make kimchi themselves using local agricultural products, including cabbage and Cheongyang chili peppers grown in Goesan. Featured programs include “One-Stop Kimchi Making,” where participants mix and take home kimchi using pre-reserved salted cabbage and filling at the Organic Expo Plaza, and “Drive-Through Kimchi Making,” where they park at individual booths inside Goesan Sports Complex, make kimchi, and load the finished product into their vehicles. The festival also offers “Children’s and Youth Kimchi-Making Experience,” “Kimchi-Making with a Master,” featuring renowned kimchi makers, and “World Kimchi Tasting,” where visitors can sample kimchi from various countries. Other major events include K-Red Food Street, a grilling zone, and the Korea Kimchi-Making Competition. Separately from the festival-site events, “Village Kimchi-Making Experience” takes place throughout November in villages across Goesan, where participants make kimchi themselves.
