About the festival

On April 23, in celebration of World Book Day, the '2026 Reading Korea' campaign launch ceremony will be held. This event will serve as a starting point to spread reading as a cultural practice in daily life, centered around a participatory performance created with citizens. Citizens of various generations will gather in one place to share their thoughts through books, creating a symbolic moment that expands Korea into a 'reading community.' Through a collective performance of holding and opening books together and sharing messages, the meaning of reading will be reexamined, providing an opportunity to connect individual reading with social practice. This open event, which anyone can participate in, offers a special experience that connects books, people, and society. In addition to the main event on April 23, side events will be held near the Byeolmadang Library until April 26.
