About the festival
On April 12 each year, designated as Library Day, and the following week as Library Week, was established to enhance public understanding and interest in libraries and to promote their use, following the amendment of the Library Act in 2021. The first Library Day in 2023 was celebrated, and the third Library Day will be observed in 2025. The Library Week campaign, led by the Korean Library Association since 1964, marks its 62nd year this year. To promote library usage, an international conference and hackathon will be held at the National Library of Korea from April 12 to 18, 2026, and a ceremony will take place at the Yeongdeungpo District Seonyudo Library on April 10 to commemorate Library Day.
