About the festival

The Gochang Nongak Flower Daelim Festival is a performing arts festival that creatively inherits the spirit of the Gongjongche of the Gochang Nongak, a intangible cultural heritage of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. The Flower Daelim Gut is a community ritual where villagers perform a Gut around the time of the lunar seventh month to relieve their hard work and pray for the abundance of the remaining year. The festival features traditional performances centered around Gochang Nongak's Pungjang Gut, Mungut, and Pangut, along with various invited performances in genres such as music, sound, and performance, as well as audience participation programs. Additionally, the festival is organized to include traditional arts performances, experiences, markets, exhibitions, academic exchanges, and programs that allow audiences, cultural artists, local residents, Nongak enthusiasts, and researchers to interact in one space. The 7th festival will be held for three days from August 28 to 30, 2026, at the Gochang Nongak Transmission Center, aiming to expand the foundation of Gochang Nongak transmission and connect the region's traditional culture with contemporary performing arts.
