About the festival

The Iksan Modern History and Culture Festival 'Walking Through the Time of Iksan' is a citizen participation-type historical and cultural festival planned for citizens and tourists to experience and empathize with Iksan's modern cultural heritage and the historical value of the region together. The festival will be held in the Iksan Cultural and Arts Street area (Iksan Art Center, Iksan Modern History Museum, Iksan Citizen History Archive) and the Somri Modern History and Culture Space (Somri Cultural Bank, Anti-Japanese Independence Movement Memorial Hall), and it is designed to allow participants to easily and interestingly experience the historical flow from the Enlightenment period of the 1910s to the liberation through various content. In particular, performances of theme songs by era and street busking will recreate the emotions and culture of the time, and through land register mission tours and historical experience programs, citizens will directly participate in the festival and naturally understand the history and space of Iksan. Additionally, there will be a variety of participatory programs that generations can empathize with and enjoy, such as experiences of Gyeongseong clothing, Dokdo flash mobs, and Manseun-dong performances. This festival aims to provide an opportunity for citizens to enhance their sense of identity and pride in the region as a historical and cultural platform that connects the past, present, and future of Iksan, going beyond a simple viewing event, and it holds significance in spreading the public value of modern cultural heritage and the foundation for sustainable utilization.
