About the festival

The Gimpo Marine Corps Culture Festival at Daemyeong Port celebrates the Marine Corps’ strong spirit and traditions, drawing on the area’s distinctive role as the home of the 2nd Marine Division. The festival features Marine Corps equipment displays, performances by military bands and honor guards, a strength competition, and hands-on activities such as making military ID tags and octagonal caps. It offers visitors a chance to experience Marine Corps culture firsthand and connect with the community. The rooftop plaza of the seafood direct-sales market also hosts “Sunset Night Market,” where visitors can enjoy Gimpo specialties, including seasonal seafood, local produce, and DIY barbecue. As evening falls, a night-market-style food market and busking performances continue against the sunset over Daemyeong Port. It is a special occasion to enjoy two festival themes in one place: Marine Corps culture by day, and sunsets and food by night.
