About the festival
The Muju Firefly Festival is a representative environmental festival of South Korea themed around the natural monument fireflies and pristine natural environments. It is held annually from late August to early September in the Muju-gun area, offering a special experience where visitors can directly observe the mysterious lights emitted by fireflies in a clean natural setting, feeling the value of nature and ecological conservation. During the festival period, various ecological and environmental experiences, traditional cultural events, performances, and night scenery are provided, including the main program 'Firefly Sinbitam-Temple.' In particular, the Firefly Sinbitam-Temple is a differentiated program unique to Muju, where visitors can directly visit firefly habitats and encounter the natural light, creating unforgettable memories for attendees. The Muju Firefly Festival has established itself as a festival that shares the value of coexistence between nature and humanity while promoting the importance of environmental conservation.
