How to dispose of it
- Separate the egg contents from the hard shell. Keep the shell out of the food-waste container.
- Place household eggshells in the local general-waste bag.
- Empty the paper or plastic egg carton and sort that packaging separately by material.
Before you put it out
- This classification concerns the shell; it does not mean that a whole egg is classified as general waste.
- Being a kitchen by-product does not automatically make something food waste. Check bones and shellfish shells separately too.
