Festival haqida
2026 Coal Mine Culture Festival, which marks its 1st anniversary this year, is a complex cultural festival held in the Sabuk-eup area of Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, to commemorate the opening of the M650 Museum. This festival showcases the lives of miners who led the industrialization of South Korea and the history of coal mines through modern cultural and artistic programs. The main components of the event include large thematic performances planned based on the narratives of miners and linked programs involving 7 cities and counties in the Seoktansaneopjeonhwanji region. Additionally, there will be audience participation experience programs that allow visitors to engage with the history of coal mining. The festival space will be centered around the newly opened M650 Museum, the Root Museum, and the 650 Street area, featuring various performances and cultural events tailored to the environment of each zone. It is an event that presents the historical background of the Sabuk region as cultural content for visitors.
