About the festival

This festival enhances the historical significance of Ubulsin Temple and the rain-making ritual folklore in Ungsang District, Yangsan, Gyeongnam, and promotes cultural harmony between East and West while fostering local pride through differentiated content reflecting the region's characteristics. The restoration of Tongsin Temple, a key part of the Hoeya River Renaissance project, will be reenacted through a citizen's parade. Residents from four neighborhoods (Soju-dong, Seochang-dong, Deokgye-dong, Pyeongsan-dong) will participate in the parade to expand citizen engagement opportunities. The folk game 'Ungsang Nongcheongjangwon Nori,' which has been passed down in Myeonggok-ri, will be performed, along with 'Ungsang Water Festa,' one of the representative contents of the Yangsan Ungsang Hoeya Festival, which is a summer water performance that modernly reinterprets the folklore related to Ubulsin Temple and the rain-making ritual, gaining recognition as a festival that awakens the summer of Yangsan.
