About the festival
The 2026 Hongseong Global Barbecue Festival is a four-day food festival held from October 29 to November 1, 2026, in the area around Hongju Fortress in Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Hosted by Hongseong-gun and organized by the Hongju Cultural Tourism Foundation, the festival features a variety of barbecue dishes made with Hongseong’s signature livestock products, Korean beef and pork, along with local food, cultural performances, and hands-on programs. Major programs include themed barbecue, K-Barbecue, global barbecue, chef barbecue, and specialty-product barbecue. The themed barbecue program uses barbecue facilities modeled on amusement rides such as Ferris wheels, Viking ships, and carousels, as well as Sky Tower barbecue facilities inspired by Hongseong’s tourist attractions. K-Barbecue showcases jar barbecue and pork belly grilled on a cauldron lid, while global barbecue offers dishes from countries including the United States, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Uzbekistan. Other offerings include chef barbecue featuring renowned chefs and YouTubers, barbecue experiences using Hongseong specialties, special-discount sales of Hongseong Korean beef and pork, and the Hongseong Food Zone, featuring local restaurants. During the festival, performances in a range of genres, including the opening celebration, hip-hop, K-pop, and busking, will take place. Related events, including the Hongseong Chrysanthemum Festival and the Hongseong National Cooking Competition, will also be held.
