About the festival

Welcome to Singwan-dong is a youth culture-centered street festival held in the area of Daehak-ro, Singwan-dong, Gongju-si. It is part of the cultural city development project promoted by Gongju-si and the Gongju Cultural Foundation, aimed at fostering Singwan-dong as a cultural hub for youth and revitalizing the local cultural ecosystem and commercial district. The festival has been held since 2022 and has operated as a street performance-centered festival, gradually expanding its content to include busking competitions, street performances, beer festivals, flea markets, and experiential programs. In 2025, the 'Welcome to Singwan-dong' brand was established through the installation of street signposts and sculptures, as well as navigation service markings. The goal for 2026 is to create a sustainable festival model based on a collaborative operational system involving residents, merchants, universities, and youth. The 2026 festival is scheduled to take place from October 9 to 11 in the area of Daehak-ro, Singwan-dong, featuring main performances, nationwide street performances, local youth and young adult performance groups, programs linked to local businesses, and local currency coupon events. Additionally, it is planned to operate as a representative street festival of the region, encouraging visitor stays and promoting the cultural and economic revitalization of the Singwan-dong area in conjunction with the Baekje Cultural Festival.
